We Are The Wild Ones

Who howl at the moon.
Who dance with the force to drive our feet to the very center of the earth.
We are the wild ones
who remember what it was
to be a bird
soaring above the ground and the water,
held by the limitless sky.
We are the wild ones
who sing inside when a chihuahua cries, saying, "I know, brother."
We are the wild ones
whose hearts are veritable kaleidoscopes
shifting from toenail pink to edge of dawn black
as quickly as clouds evolving/dissolving around a volcano peak.
We are the wild ones
who will not be contained by the paved path along the edge of the jungle,
but who plunge headlong into the wild vines
to drink the sweet water bubbling from secret springs
and offer our flesh to the biting winged ones
singing their songs to the holy mud.
We are the wild ones
who become lost in landscapes of creation,
the infinitely faceted realms of reality and technology
building dreams to live inside.
We are the wild ones
who will never be tamed by a culture or gold gilded religion, no matter how sacred,
or
by
any
other
human
heart.

We are our own wild gods
twirling fiercely with the wind
and spinning with the sun
before disappearing again
into
everything.
