The tender twists of life never cease to delight and surprise me,
reminding that the hidden secrets are everywhere, where I least expect:

The spicy gift of spring arugula,
awakening my tongue
and leaving my teeth what that distinctive
"wearing cashmere sweaters" feel.

My best friend holding both worry and wisdom
in her strong nurturing hands
and clear blue eyes.

My heart, for the first time, feeling so sure beyond doubt,
of the man I want
and the groundlessness of someone else's confusion.

The sun sliding through the window
as we drive through the desert
from one mountain to the others,
