I made a resolution this year
(well, a few)
but one I am willing to share:
At least one Surya Namaskar sun salutation per day.
Sometimes it happens in the office,
hands touching the carpet I'd really rather not.
Sometimes it flows into an hour at home
or a class I can't really afford.
Occasionally, it doesn't happen at all and then the practice
is to forgive myself.
While the movements make me taller,
and a respect grows for muscles, organs, bones,
and often when I reach up for the first Urdhva Hatasana upward hands pose
something in my chest makes a loud crack and I imagine it's my heart
wild, fiery, and gold,
waking up and breaking out to say,
"Here I am! Did you forget?"
really, the message is to
fall in love.
With life,
with this breath, with this moment.
It is all we have, and love is
the only truth.
The one that echos through each cell
with a resonance boundless
I am gently cultivating and attuning to.
That I may be a vessel of this light,
that everything can tune to this same chanel.
That all may be happy.
