the valley was wild today
meadow wind whipping in a way that calls forever forward
the next turn, the next valley, the next ridge.
all the magpies and canyon wrens were silent,
cozied away in their protected crannies.
deep in my veins and bones the force of life sang strong
of my own wildness and ill regard for propriety or calm
the wind as destruction as creation as true aliveness.
