morning after rain

if the desert was so wet
as these monsoons make it be
the green would invade rock
and turn the fins back to sea

and our home, little home
submerged in shallow water
seams bursting, planes warping
would still hold you and me

scent in the curtains
hair in the sink
memories of gatherings
with homemade food and drink

we swim, we dive
in this ocean of sun
with happy little saunters
and the rains quite welcome.

a happy little saunter showed me
round the corner
to this door ajar
casting light of love
and friendship wide and

far
