Driving to the city with my co-workers
the sky keeps drooling on us.
We enter the suburbs with
liposuction bill boards and teens
in skinny jeans standing in the rain.
A tiny trailer store
an empty
Food 4 Less
parking lot.
And it's not that I've never been
in love with a city,
it's just, how can this compare
with wide open blue skies?
With shifted sand
where the bones of earth poke through.
And there's no looking for God,
it's just there.

Hey Martha. I really like this one :]] Just randomly clicked your website from facebook. pretty cool stuff yo.
Thanks :)
It's pouring raining here in the big city, and the rain seems so ... pointless. It just blocks the drains with fallen leaves, and floods the intersections. At least it cleans the dog shit off the sidewalks.
I'm heading up to the river on Monday to spend a week training new raft guides. It'll be cold, wet, challenging. I wonder if I'll really want to come back.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful words. I hope you're well.
